LONG-STAY VISA EQUIVALENT TO A RESIDENCY PERMIT

You have obtained a long-stay visa that is equivalent to a residency permit (VLS-TS). This is typically issued if you plan to stay for no more than one year.  We provide help with French social security registration and other necessary formalities within three months of your arrival in France so that you can validate your visa.
Note: If you have obtained this type of visa, you must have it renewed by applying for a residency permit at the relevant Prefecture two months before it expires.
Our services ensure you meet all requirements efficiently.

LONG-STAY VISA NOT EQUIVALENT TO A RESIDENCY PERMIT

If you have obtained a long-stay visa that is not equivalent to a residency permit (long-stay visa bearing the statement “residency permit to be applied for within two months of arrival”), which is normally the case if the envisaged duration of your stay is longer than one year, we provide dedicated Relocation & immigration support, as well as DCEM for children in France services, to help you compile the documents required to obtain your residency permit.

"Please note that temporary Long-Stay Visas are subject to the same rules as for Visitor Visas : renewal and/or change of status is not authorized. The applicant has to go back to his original country in order to submit a new file."

Expat Services In Paris provides assistance in filing or renewing your residency permit.

PREFECTURE APPLICATION ASSISTANCE

We go with you to the relevant Prefecture to submit the application file (where you must present all the original documents, as well as copies) and monitor the application until the document is obtained. When you submit your application to the Prefecture, while the permit is being prepared, you will receive a receipt stating your residency permit application has been submitted. This document will allow you to stay legally in France until you obtain your residency permit. Our naturalization applications in France service ensures you are supported throughout the entire process, making it as smooth and stress-free as possible.

RENEWAL OF RESIDENCY PERMIT

We can also help you if you already have a residency permit and would like to request a renewal from the competent Prefecture. We assist with the verification of the necessary documents, accompany you to the Prefecture when submitting the application, and monitor the application until the renewed residency permit is granted. Our comprehensive Expat Assistance ensures you receive support at every step of the process.

EUROPEAN CITIZEN

If you are European, you do not need a visa to come and live in France. However, you can apply for an “EU citizen” residency permit once you have settled in France. This permit will facilitate all your administrative tasks with French residency assistance.

The case for British citizens is a little different due to Brexit. By 2020, obtaining a residency permit will become compulsory for British people staying in France.

NATURALIZATION

Have you been living in France for more than five years, or are you married to a French person? We can help you become a naturalized citizen. We assist you in compiling all the necessary documents and help you submit the application. Our services for naturalization applications in France include monitoring the application process until you obtain French nationality.

Please note that the list of documents comes directly from the requirements established by the civil service and the Prefecture.

Each Prefecture can request additional documents beyond those found on the list without notice.

Once at the Prefecture, the civil servant can easily request additional documents, even if they were not on the official list.

It is always best to arrive with more documents than to have to return to the Prefecture because of a missing document.

You will need to have a lot of patience when you go to the Prefecture.

Without an appointment, people usually wait between 2 and 3 hours in the suburbs and up to a full day in Paris.

If by chance the wait is shorter, then we just have to count ourselves lucky!
